StyroQ EPS hollow blocks are an innovative solution perfect for modern constructions, offering both environmental and budget-friendly benefits, Pre-cut blocks are used as hordy block, hordy landscapes and pontoon infills. Since it has good physical and mechanical properties, light weight, and easy to handle, can be produced in big volumes in a short period of time, it has become the favorite choice of the civil and structural engineers in the modern days.

One of the most prevalent types of ceilings in building systems around the world, offering sound and thermal insulation. It's easy to implement and is used in halls and large rooms, where the distances between columns can reach up to 8 meters or more, depending on the ceiling's thickness and the depth and width of the dropped or concealed beams. It's considered the optimal choice for residential houses.

The ceiling consists of tiles and joists, with the tiles and joists formed through the use of polystyrene as a filling material. The joists are similar to beams but with smaller dimensions.

Advantages of EPS Hollow Block Slabs

Lightweight:

The robust EPS panels are extremely lightweight, making them easy to handle and install.

High Thermal Resistance:

EPS panels boast a high R-value, meaning they provide excellent insulation performance and can help maintain warmth in buildings during winter and coolness in summer.

Easy to Cut:

The strong EPS panels can be easily cut to fit around pipes, wires, and other obstacles, making them a versatile insulation material.

Recyclable:

The robust panels can be recycled and reused at the end of their lifespan, making them an environmentally friendly insulation choice.

The hordy ceiling allows for greater design flexibility.

The abundance of joists disperses sound waves and reduces sound transmission forces to the ceiling. Therefore, using hardy ceilings is always preferred in study halls, schools, and residential buildings.

Types of EPS Hollow Block Slabs

EPS Hollow Block Slabs are classified into two main types:

  1. One-Way Hollow Block Slab
  2. Two-Way Hollow Block Slab

The One-Way Hollow Block Slab is the most commonly used type. In this system, joists run in a single direction, with loads supported by beams spanning both directions. The load transfer mechanism in the hollow block slab system involves a sequential process: loads are transferred from the slab to the joists, then from the joists to the beams, and finally from the beams to the columns.

The thickness of the slabs in this system typically ranges from 5 cm to 10 cm, with an average thickness of approximately 7 cm.

Applications of EPS Hollow Block Slabs

EPS Hollow Block Slabs, also referred to as "hordy ceilings," are utilized in spaces where large, open areas are required without the presence of intermediate columns. Examples include majlis areas, halls, mosques, and wedding venues, where columns in the center would compromise functionality or aesthetics.

For areas exceeding 36 square meters, the use of conventional ceilings becomes impractical, making the hollow block slab system the preferred choice.
