Extruded polystyrene boards are used as an insulation for roof, cavity wall, floor, and perimeter insulation. XPS boards can also be used as wall cladding insulation & void filling. Extruded polystyrene rigid foam with special skin is manufactured by a continuous extrusion process which imparts a characteristic of closed cell structure giving the product its unique physical properties. Extruded polystyrene rigid boards have high resistance to water absorption, good physical and thermal properties. It is available with shiplap joints, tongue & groove edges depending on the application. XPS can be supplied from 35-45 Kg/m3.
Extruded Polystyrene insulation boards (in short form XPS boards) are Manufactured from General purpose polystyrene (GPPS RAW MATERIAL) which comes in the form of pellets typically @ 3- 5mm in diameter.
FR additive can be added to achieve Fire retardant grade product (FR grade), however Non-fire-retardant grade can be produced by omitting FR additive. Generally, Fire retardant grade material is used for building an insulation other than cold store insulation. Non fire-retardant grade is used for filling, floor leveling applications.
XPS foam has an innate combination of properties that make it one of the most efficient insulating materials available at lower cost. The closed-cell structure, responsible for the foam’s excellent moisture resistance, also contributes to its high compressive strength, and superior thermal performance.
